I've somehow never been to this Cape Town institution, where the waiters sing for your supper, so was eager to try it out. Most of the performers were pretty good - although there were some less good moments... I liked that they gave us a break between sections, in order to chat to our table. The food was a bit hit-and-miss. The duck tagine was fairly tough - though apparently the lamb one was delicious. The fillet steak was actually the best thing I tasted though - superlatively tender, with a delicious sauce. Our white chocolate creme brulees were pretty good. Great flavour - although chocolate does tend to make the dish slightly grainy, rather than creamy. Halva ice cream was alright - but not as good as others I've had. (Marika's in Gardens does a fab, creamy one with chunks of halva in it.) All-in-all a fun night - I'd recommend going with a big group of friends, and drinking plenty of wine, in order to really get the proper experience. You need to be slightly loose in order to sing along and get up and dance at the end.
