From the people that brought you Caveau, Sotano is the sea-side equivalent. Topped by a tantalizing menu, serving traditional seasonal Mediterranean cuisine , with an emphasis on the seafood offering. Gorgeous flat-breads galore, wafer-thin pizzas, and classic bistro mains.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but I'm hoping management will see this and address these issues. Last night, two friends and I had dinner at Sotano in Mouille Point. This is clearly a popular spot (in small measure I think due to its location) and it was buzzing with the cocktail set, groups of friends and families. Before I get on to my gripe, I'll concede that the food was delicious - absolutely packed with flavour and well presented. (As a side note, we had the seafood linguine, trout and potato salad, fish and chips and some yummy churros to end with). But the service was almost non- existent. We had to wait at least 20 minutes before our drinks order was taken... And then the white wine arrived warm! A real no-no for a place that a) tags itself as a drinks venue and b) doesn't allow you to bring your own (already chilled) wine. A request to see the sushi menu was entirely forgotten. Throughout the evening we barely saw our server, and constantly had to look for somebody to assist us. It soured what should've been a wonderful evening.

Amazing service, food is really good, the drinks are chilled and what a wonderful vibe at the seafront. Highly recommend , one of the best spots in Cape Town for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Came past Sotana on Saturday afternoon after a lovely walk on the Promenade and I was beyond delighted! I had no idea what I felt like and with the array of tapas choices I was spoilt for choice! Quality and quantity were just perfect and was left wanting more. I will be back to tick off the next few items on the tapas menu.

The maitre de at reception needs a personality adjustment.
Sunday, 1 May - looked to have a cup of coffee - two empty tables - made every possible excuse not to host us. Went and had coffee round the corner - returned, two tables still vacant. She honestly needs to reassess her role. I trust you don't do this for a living as you have no idea what your role entails and how to treat people!
