Salty Sea Dog has a nice view of the harbor from the outside seating. The restaurant is a very casual place with warm service and good sea food.

My fiancé and I popped in here on Sunday 30th November after reading the good reviews about it on Trip advisor. Sadly they did not live up to their reputation.
The calamari rings we ordered literally could not be chewed, and I am not exaggerating. They were incredibly tough and had not been cleaned correctly. The quill (which is the white stringy thing inside the calamari tubes) had not been cleaned out properly. Not good for a seafood restaurant!
The fried chips were pretty yummy with the good old fashioned brown vinegar splashed all over them. The fried Angel fish special they had running was also a disappointment. Angel fish is so delicate and very easy to over cook, I don't think serving it fried is really the best option. It was dry and tasteless. Disappointing! The battered hake was the hero of our meal. Not the best I have had but it was tasty and moist.
The staff however were very friendly and helpful, such a pity their food really let them down.
I guess maybe in this case you get what you paid for, but surely when you are paying lower prices it shouldn't mean that you get sub standard food?

If you want good fish an chips and a casual, laidback place where you can turn up in shorts and slops - The Salty Sea Dog is the place to come. Chill out on the patio and munch away at freshly battered hake or the line fish of the day - use your fingers or the plastic cutlery provided. This place is everything a fish and chippie should be and evokes happy memories of childhood. Good fresh fish, chunky chips, good portions, and a great view of Simonstowns harbour.
