I made an online reservation to celebrate the end of my son's final matric exams. I wanted the evening to be special. I called the restaurant to confirm my reservation and request a particular table. On our way there, I advised that we were running a few minutes late. When I arrived, Happy could not find my reservation. When he finally did, he made a sarcastic comment about us being late. He then took us to the incorrect table, even though the one we had reserved was available. After I insisted on being shown to the correct table, he plainly told us to be aware that we couldn't stay long as the generator would be turning off at 9.30. So, before we had even sat down, he had made us feel as though our arrival was a total inconvenience. We asked for a different waiter and Emmanuel was very attentive and pleasant. Towards the end of the evening however, my son ordered a drink from a different waiter and was told that they would "see what they could do as it was getting late!" This is not the first time that a special evening has been ruined for us. My son's 16th birthday party was a disaster as the orders were all mixed up, even though I had painstakingly pre-arranged everything. It appears that intense staff training is required and that management should appoint a responsible staff member to be on duty when they are not present. Also, when things go wrong, management do not take handle it correctly or humbly at all..
