I go quite often to Sake, I agree that the service is very poor and at times we have to get up and look for our waitron, but the sushi is of very good quality. I have not yet experienced any 'hairs' in my food as Anna Baker did in a previous post. But incidents like that happen without notice in the most expensive of places like Balthazar at the Waterfront (Won't be going to a high star rated place like that again, 3 mega mistakes on one sit down). I've been to a lot of sushi places, and Sake's sushi is better than most even from the Waterfront. My family and friends that I have taken to Sake agree on the quality of food. Better that CTFM etc. In total, Sake's sushi and pricing of R139 all you can eat is a pretty good deal.
Terrible Service and Food – 28 February 2015 Short story – we were 6 people having sushi for lunch. Order took very long to arrive – my daughter discover BLACK hair under the salmon (3 Pieces) in the rice – called the waiter and showed her and said she must please show the manager – manager arrive at the table ( no manager material at all) – I believe you have a problem – I said yes did the waiter show you the hair in the rice – o but (looking towards my husband) it’s not one off he’s workers (chefs or waitress) hairs it looked more light and grey – I said then you definitely colour blind for all six off us saw black hair – I asked to speak to the manager – o sorry he’s away for a month to china - well I could only say sorry that’s all I can offer you – so now we asked for the bill (this is what you get if you employee some-one with no brains and definitely not fit to be a manager ) – the waiter put the card threw 6 times after I told her it’s not a credit card but a normal cheque account – so I asked my card back to draw cash money – she turned to me and said my husband must stay with her for surety – really first bad treatment by manager now this – I walked down to the bank – the waiter followed me like I was a criminal that would just take off – after I draw money she came up to me – you don’t have to come back to restaurant just give me the money – I said now I will walked back with you for I need change – she will still asked me or do you not have money – that is absolutely the very last time this restaurant will ever see me and everywhere I go I will make sure that people now what an terrible family outing experience we had.
The sushi is good, no doubt about that. However, the so called "30% off" sushi special when sitting down is a complete joke. For example - the Purple Plate that consists of 2 pieces of Sunshine Roll is R40 (so with the discount R28) but if you had to order a sunshine roll for take-away, you would get 4 pieces at R40. Simple maths - to get the same amount of sushi from the "special" you are in fact paying a 40% PREMIUM (R16 more). Same goes with everything else on the menu. I can understand paying a little bit more for the ambiance, but these costs add up quite a bit after a few plates. This is the only sushi place that I know of with price discrimination in their own restaurant, and quite frankly, its not worth it. When I took the matter up with the waitress, they added that "we are not supposed to look at the take-away menu" even though the food comes from the exact same place/chefs. Furthermore, the manager was conveniently away when I started making a fuss. I felt completely ripped off.

Had some of the most amazing sushi I have ever tasted at Sake Sable Square. Service was good and the specials are even better! I will definitely be going back there soon!

Food, delicious - we had sushi platters. Service, terrible. The place wasn't even a quarter full on a Sunday afternoon, and we had to repeatedly get up and go look for the waitrons. Prices, brilliant.
