Lovely venue! The food is average but the views are great! The best feature of this restaurant is the coffee hutch. Excellent coffee and most pleasant, friendly staff in Cape Town!

A friend and I visited for the best breakfast at a very affordable price. We were seated outside on the wooden deck, which has the perfect table Mountain View, as well as feels lovely being literally on the rocks of the Blouberg beachfront. Our waiter, Allen, was really helpful and had a warm and friendly attitude. We both had cuppachino’s which were alright, not the greatest coffee so I might order something else next time. But the real star of the day was the Jonkershuis breakfast ! Oh MY HAT ! It was really amazing ! Sourdough topped with sautéed mushrooms, avo, crispy pork belly, poached eggs & basil pesto ! YUMMY ! I have been all over Cape Town for breakfast, and I can tell you, On The Rocks has just become my top #1 ! 😍
Would definitely recommend.
TheOr breakfast menu is a full round choice of all the dishes you may want for brekki ! I will definitely be back soon ! ✨

Went there for breakfast for my birthday - what an utter disappointment. Couldn't eat the eggs, the mushrooms or the tomato, which had all been deep-fried in margarine (which I cannot abide), and only just managed the bacon on toast because I was so hungry. Plus seeing the lunch dishes cooling in the kitchen in front of open windows (with flies getting easy access) is pretty off-putting. The coffees arrived cold and unappetising. And we had to collect our own cutlery and napkins from nearby tables. We were told by the waiter that if we wanted to catch the place at its best, we should come for dinner. I would never spend the price of a dinner at a restaurant that can't even get a simple breakfast to be tasty. The view was wasted because the food was such a let-down.

Ihave been to this little hidden gem 3 or 4 times and I have never left disappointed. I love the outside sitting area - facing the majestic table mountain and literally on the rocks. I love the sea breeze and the smell of the beach. The view is soothing, calm and picturesque. This place is ideal for a laid back lunch with friends on a sunny Saturday or Sunday afternoon. The waiters are detail orientated, attentive and quite friendly. The services is well orchestrated. Their food takes long though, prepare to wait on average 30 or more minutes for your food to be served.Luckily it is worth the wait and it gives you time to enjoy your drink of choice- in my case my bubbly and take in the beauty. I had so many dishes at this establishment and have enjoyed each. I had West Coast oysters and I paired them with Methode Cap Classique (MCC)
Graham Beck Brut.My sister had Patagonia calamari tubes, they were prepared well and not rubbery. The flavours were eminent yet balanced. she paired this with Haute Cabriere Chardonnay Pinot Noir.My other favourite is their seared tuna, very smooth and made to perfection. I will also recommend the Mussels and heirloom tomato; that is a divine dish.
For mains, I miss their Lamb shank- they took it off the menu. I, however had their Lamb shoulder, that was some funky dish. Different flavours, very dramatic and yet they married well on the palate. It is sensual and I would recommend it to a person who loves flavour fusions.
My sister and her partner had Rolled Pork Belly. This is a winner, simply delicious and very well balance. Outstanding dish, this was. We paired all our mains with Rupert and Rothschid classique. Her other all time favourite is their sea bass.It is a very well prepared dish, a classical case of "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication".
Their desserts are magical, absolute heaven, not too sweet and not too complex. They are smooth and subtle. I am not a dessert person but these, I can never leave without having them. Little temptation!!!.
I had all the desserts on their new 2017 menu... ohhh not at the same sitting. On this particular day my sister had the crème brule- her reaction after her first spoon was priceless... that look of complete satisfaction. Utter happiness. I had warm dark textures of chocolate
cake and spiced plums.... I am lost for words. I will do this tasty, creamy, flawless dessert injustice if I even begin to try. All I can say is "Please try it". My sister's partner had Lydia's baked cheese cake and all he could do was mutter the following " smooth, heaven must be like this" We laughed! All we can say is CheckMate
