Expect classic finishings and elegant décor. Try some of the old favourites like the Crispy Roast Duck with roasted garlic mash and a whisky Marmalade sauce or the Grilled Fillet of Beef which is topped with a Mushroom and Truffle sauce.
Some of the newer dishes on the menu include smoked duck carpaccio with toasted almond, rocket and apple salad, finished with a pomegranate reduction or the Cocoa Rubbed Lamb Loin with coffee syrup, wilted rocket and hazelnut butter. Pair your meal with wine from the extensive list and finish off with Black Forest Tart with candied orange, mascarpone and salted caramel.
The venue is classic and well-dressed, which makes it perfect for romantic dinners.
Not sure which Lombardy Nicola ate at. My experience was great - the price was reasonable, the portions large and the food too tasty if anything! Overall an enjoyable meal with very different dishes!
We had dinner there on Monday and I must admit I was shocked and very very disappointed. The food is grossly overpriced, comes in small portions and is absolutely tasteless. I have never had such a bad meal in my entire life! Not recommeded at all.
The food is boring but not bad for Pretoria. Except for the addition of a Halloumi starter, the menu has not changed much in the last ten years. We were the only people in the restaurant and on arrival were greeted by a visibly drunk waiter reeking of alcohol. I asked for the table setting to be changed so we can face each other and the cutlery was thrown on the other side of the table in a heap. Thankfully he left and was replaced by another very attentive waiter. A lot of back ground noise from staff in the kitchen shouting and clanging away and we had to ask for the music to be turned on. Good ambience with log fire burning.
I had dinner at Lombardy with my husband last night and it was a wonderful experience.
My husband’s starter was the Rooibos and Citrus Smoked Springbok Carpaccio and it was absolute heaven. My main was Braised Pork Belly with butter bean and chilli salad, probably the best I have ever had.
Excellent food, excellent service...what else could we ask for?
Do not miss the opportunity to eat at Lombardy - it’s a hidden gem.
