Don't bother to drop in here for a meal whilst in the area. I have no doubt it was once quite a wonderful place but not any more. The service is really slow and waiters not very well trained. The food is mediocre to say the least and made me quite ill afterwards. I think this place runs on its name and exclusivity to promote itself, but I believe it ceased to be the wonderful hotel and restaurant it once was. Rather go somewhere else in the area where your patronage is actually wanted and you feel like you have had a good meal with good service.

We had visited this restaurant 1 year ago, with food being ok, nothing to write home about. We recently revisited and what a refreshing change. Menus have been changed in look and style, with dishes on the menu for everyone. Relaxed atmosphere with light background music, fireplaces on the go. Service was crisp, very good and friendly. Food is right size portions with typical bistro feel. Knowing the meander, arguably the best bistro on the stretch for meals, by far.

Surprises, per definition, come unexpectedly. We stayed over at GM for a single night (it was half the price of some of the other nearby establishments) and took up the offer of dining in their brand new fine-dining restaurant. Had no idea what to expect. From the moment we walked in our dinner turned into a most pleasant dining experience. The décor is gorgeous; plush and comfy yet light and friendly. The food was beyond all expectation. We were served delightful amuse bouche and then shared a goats cheese and polenta salad that was fresh, well balanced and generously portioned. We both had lamb shank that was perfectly flavoured, tender and served with fresh, crisp veggies. The pièce de résistance (for me, my loved one bailed out at this stage) was a rich chocolate tart that was oozing with flavour and texture. Waiters were discreet and efficient. They also have an amazing wine cellar (looks new). The bill did not break the bank either. Rooms were also newly decorated and really nice. No, I don’t work there or own shares; I just appreciate it if people offer consumers something good.
The new chef, Leanne is fabulous, the food is out of this world and with a new Genral Manager- Duncan Bruce the wine list is outstanding. I hope to see this resturant in the top ten!
