Excellent southern French cuisine explained, cooked and served by owners. The food was perfect: good ingredients, well-prepared and very well-presented aa well. Good wine selection, quiet and relaxed, good enough to be pretentious but so glad it wasn’t. Would definitely go again!

We were lucky enough to have a table at Die Gieter in celebration of my birthday and what a great find it was for all 8 of us locals! Remy welcomed all of us each with a hand shake and Cathy's infectious friendly smile welcomed us as we were seated at our table. The Waitress's saw to our every need from the time we sat down to the time we left. Our menu was explained exquisitely by Cathy made to sound even more tasty by her fabulous french accent. Before our starters arrived we were treated to a bonne bouche of escargot in a delicate cream sauce and miniature pastry, after that we knew we were going to be in for a treat. The baked Camembert started was very tasteful and large enough for two to share, the goats cheese wrapped in phylo pastry was absolutely divine ! The Lamb Shank was a huge plate of fall of the bone tender lamb, my guests each took a doggy bag home as the portion was extremely generous. I chose the duck fillet which was picante and very succulent with a touch of crispness on the salted skin. Desert again we sampled between us the Poire Belle, Baked Cheescake and Tarte Tartin all of which were mouthwatering and decadent. As we requested to settle the bill Cathy served home made macaroons and french cognac on the house a wonderful touch to finish our evening. Cathy and Remy have most certainly found the correct level of service without being intrusive and have created a extremely tasteful menu. We most certainly will be back and will continue to highly recommend this lovely venue on the edge of the Phantom Pass.

It is not often that every dish ordered at a restaurant lives up to expectations, but "Cathy & Remy" really delivered at a family lunch we had there recently. The terrine starter was excellent, the duck confit was sublime and my vote for the dish of the day. The lamb shank was perfectly cooked, and the duck breast which my wife ordered was excellent. The desserts are wonderful but rather large and should preferably be shared. It would be really difficult to fault any of the dishes we ordered, quite a feat considering that this restaurant is in Knysna. The restaurant is small and homely with beautiful views over the lagoon & river. Overall, we had a very pleasant lunch and I would happily recommend "Cathy & Remy" restaurant to anyone wanting good French Provencal Cuisine and hospitality!!!

What an awesome place to stay, with a tranquil river view.Remy which took over Knysna Riversidelodge, has welcomed us with open arms! The staff are extremeley helpfull and made our stay tremendous, so by that we booked another 2 nights extra, it is very clean and neat. This is a must stay especially if you are into nature, we made friends and will definateley come once a year. This place and restaurant is by far the best with its variety of food and very reasonable portions. Thank u for making it worth the while. And best of luck to them.
