Whether you’re looking for respite from the wind and rain or you’re just in the mood for some serious comfort food, these cosy restaurant specials around the Western Cape will make you forget all about that winter chill.

The 41 (Camps Bay)

Keep warm beside this restaurant’s fireplace while taking advantage of the winter specials now on offer. These include a two-course lunch (weekdays between 12pm and 4pm) with a glass of wine for R180, or three courses with a glass of wine for R195. But that’s not all – on Wednesdays, pizzas are half-price from 6pm, and on Thursdays, burgers are also half-price.

Beyond (Constantia)

Warm up this winter at chef Peter Tempelhoff’s Beyond at Buitenverwachting and enjoy their slow food offering. This comprises a four-course menu for R395 per person. Dishes include twice-baked cheese soufflé with a grappa sauce, organic farm salad with French shallot vinaigrette and artisanal bread, free-range beef Wellington for two, and farm roast coffee creme brûlée. Winter special is not available on Saturday and Sunday lunch.

Cape Point Vineyards (Noordhoek)

Take in the glorious views and enjoy their Asian-inspired winter special menu. For R185, you will get two courses plus a glass of the Cape Point Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. Dishes include beef wontons with Asian-style broth, followed by a curry-spiced hake tempura with miso mayo and triple-cooked chips. Special available for weekday lunches only.

Catch22 (Blouberg)

This beachside eatery is enticing you in with Tapas Tuesday, where you can get any three hot or cold small plates for R200. Offer available from 12pm to closing time. On Thursdays, order the chef’s daily 20-piece Social Distancing Sushi Platter for R265 and receive an additional 10 pieces for free. You can also indulge in some cocktail classics for R40 a drink from 4pm to 6pm on Fridays.

Den Anker (V&A Waterfront)

Den Anker are known for their harbour views, great beer and delicious Belgian grub. They also offer a range of 2-for-1 deals. This includes two pots of mussels and frites for R225, two fish and chips portions for R225, or two wagyu burgers and chips for R225. You can also warm up with their soup de jour special for R100 for two portions or their Belgian waffle deal with two waffles topped with strawberries and ice cream for R100.

Epice (Franschhoek)

This gorgeous restaurant from the La Colombe group is offering a reduced seven-course menu for R595 per person, with the option of a beverage pairing at R395 per person. View the menu here.

Foxcroft (Constantia)

Enjoy a delicious reduced four-course lunch menu for R395 per person. The offering includes Foxcroft bread, two tapas, one main course and one dessert. Wine pairing is optional at R300 extra per person.

Grub & Vine (City Bowl)

Cosy up at this inner-city bistro and tuck into two courses for R275 or three courses for R375. Highlights include shallot tarte tatin with whipped goat’s cheese, salt-baked pumpkin risotto with spiced pumpkin seeds, and slow-braised short rib with glazed baby carrots and bone marrow mash.

Harbour House (Kalk Bay and V&A Waterfront)

Settle in for some soothing sea views and take advantage of Harbour House’s sushi special. Dine in and enjoy half price off your favourite fresh sushi, Monday to Friday from 12pm.

Kloof Street House (Gardens)

This charming eatery is running a winter lunch special that’s available from Mondays to Saturdays. A two-course meal will cost you R195 and three courses R195. There are various options available – highly recommended are the West Coast mussels in aromatic coconut broth with coriander toast; the hake goujons with rustic fries, mushy peas and tartar sauce; and rooibos-and-orange spiced poached pear with cardamon Chantilly cream for dessert.

La Colombe (Constantia Nek)

If you haven’t yet visited this award-winning restaurant, now’s the time. A nine-course winter special menu is on offer until 31 August for R595 per person. This special is available from Mondays to Fridays (including public holidays) for lunch only. You can view the menu here.

NV-80 (Sea Point)

For R250, you can enjoy a two-course meal, or three courses for R310. That includes dishes such as trinchado, miso salmon, queen prawns, wild mushroom gnocchi, crème brûlée and banana split. The special is available for lunch from Mondays to Sundays, or for dinner from Sundays to Thursdays.

Overture (Stellenbosch)

On Thursdays at Bertus Basson’s Overture, you can take in the gorgeous view and let the fireplace warm you up while you enjoy 50% off your meal. This offer is valid for lunch or dinner on Thursdays only.

Poke Co. (City Bowl, Claremont, Gardens, Sea Point)

Enjoy a regular poke meal for two, including a lovely bottle of rosé, and pay only R295. This offer is valid in-store only.

Salsify at The Roundhouse (Camps Bay)

Take in the gorgeous views and enjoy the Salsify seasonal lunch and dinner special. Available from Tuesdays to Saturdays, the menu costs R400 per person and includes a three-course meal and gifts from the kitchen. There’s the option of adding a boutique wine pairing at R150 per person.

Seabreeze Fish & Shell (City Bowl)

Get your seafood fix at this Bree Street spot with their daily winter special. This deal includes two courses for R199 and three courses for R239.

The Shop (Sea Point)

This unassuming yet cosy Sea Point eatery is offering up a two-course dinner for R220. This offer is valid from 5:30pm, Tuesday to Sunday until 31 August.

Vadas (Stellenbosch)

This popular spot located at Spier Wine Farm is offering a 50% off winter deal. The special includes 50% off breakfast dishes on Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 11am. This excludes bakery and beverages.
