From brand-new establishments to long-standing culinary giants – restaurants, chefs and culinary enthusiasts from all over the world come together to celebrate the World’s 50 Best Restaurant List every year.

The restaurants ranked at positions 51–100 on the list were released today in preparation for the announcement of positions 1–50, which will be revealed on 18  July in London. We couldn’t be prouder to see two homegrown eateries making the cut!

Located in the West Coast village of Paternoster, Wolfgat came in at no. 90 on the global rankings list. Chef Kobus van der Merwe’s quaint establishment focuses on sustainability and showcases indigenous ingredients to spectacular effect. With each dish inspired by the surrounding seascape, Wolfgat is a true ode to what South African delicacies have to offer.

Situated on the scenic Silvermist wine estate in Cape Town, La Colombe was named at no. 56 on the same list. La Colombe offers a tranquil, luxurious dining experience, with the dining room perched in the clouds above the treetops. Chef James Gaag’s flair for theatrics and creativity is unmatched – it’s no wonder La Colombe ranked so highly on the acclaimed list!
