Cape Town food-lovers will be pleased to hear about a brand new fresh goods market, The V&A Market on the Wharf, due to open on 1 November this year.
Set adjacent to the Nobel Laureate Square inside the historic Power Station (which used to house the Musica flagship store), the market aims to be on par with international destinations like the Burrough Market in London, Ferry Building Market in San Francisco and La Boqueria in Barcelona.
Organiser Ruth Munitz is hoping to gather the best kept culinary secrets Cape Town has on offer in one location, and to offer vendors a golden opportunity to operate retail space in the Waterfront at affordable rates.
Says Ruth, “??The V&A Market on the Wharf will provide a hassle free, must-stop shopping experience for anyone who has an interest in high quality food – from the single householder and dinner party host through to the restaurateur looking for the best of the best produce on a daily basis.” The market will be trading from 9am to 7.30pm Wednesday to Sunday, and will feature butchers, fishmongers, bakers, confectioners, flower sellers and wine merchants, amongst others.
