The awards, which took place in London’s King’s court, are the result of a global competition dedicated to recognising the design and architecture of food and beverage spaces. According to Scott Matthews, one of the judges at this year’s awards, the Rockets Lolita’s bar has ‘fantastic bespoke-looking interior elements along with [a] unique quality’.

These awards are a culmination of years of owner Sean Barber’s vision to create ‘an aspirational restaurant that was unpredictable in its design, making each space infinitely interesting while appealing to all five senses’. This is not the first accolade for the Rockets group, which comprises nine establishments in Johannesburg. Rockets in Bryanston won Best Tapas Eatery in Gauteng at the 2017 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries.
