Get ready to embark on a journey to the shores of coastal Italy as Lina – Neapolitan Pizza by Farro prepares to make its entrance to the food scene of Hermanus. Nestled in The Carriages Centre at 173 Main Road, this small cosy joint promises to be a slice of authentic Italian goodness just a stone’s throw from the breathtaking Hermanus Cliff Path.
“The name Lina is derived from semolina, the coarsely ground durum wheat used to dust the work surface when making pizza to prevent the dough from sticking,” says Eloise Windebank of the husband and wife team who operate Eat Out star restaurant Farro.
Alex Windebank, the culinary mastermind behind Farro, will oversee all food operations at Lina and says, “Farro is all about comfort and classics with its roots in modern European cooking, and Lina will have this same philosophy”. Expect a commitment to great quality produce without overcomplicating things, an approach that will be echoed in the offerings at Lina.
On the menu? “There’ll be a short roster of Neapolitan-style pizzas and Italian-inspired small places and salads,” says Eloise. And the space? “A tiny, cosy spot reminiscent of coastal Italy, with a handful of tables and some counter seating. For those who prefer the refreshing ocean breeze, outdoor tables on the pedestrian walkway will offer a picturesque view of leaping whales.”
Set to open its doors in late September 2023, Lina will initially welcome guests for a delightful lunchtime experience, open daily from 11.00am to 5.00pm. As they await their liquor licence, evening dining will soon follow. While no bookings are available just yet, keep a close eye on the Farro social media platforms for upcoming announcements and exciting updates.
