If you’re wondering where to stay in Jozi, check out this list of gorgeous hotels that also offer world-class dining experiences – the best of both worlds.
Co-founded by a former airline and wellness service industry CEO, the four-star Bristol Rosebank – part of the Home Suite Hotels’ network of establishments planned for a 2020/21 rollout – was always likely to place service highly on the agenda when it opened its doors on Oxford Road. Added to that is interior design from Tonic’s award-winning duo and a versatile and unfussy menu with freshness a top priority. Plus there’s an impressive larder open 24 hours a day for those midnight munchies.
Fairlawns remains a never-fail favourite of consistently high quality. You’ll enjoy every experience it has to offer, whether it’s drinks in the various private dining enclaves; a casual yet elegant meal at Manor House Bistro; canapés at an on-trend Jozi event; or a five-course experience at Amuse-Bouche, the sophisticated á la carte dining room with impeccably trained staff.
Dos Manos serves wood-fired pizzas and grills, plus adequate game and seafood alternatives thrown in. Note that the famous Pablo Eggs-Go-Bar still serves Joburg’s most imaginative eggs – they’ve just relocated to The Mint Hotel in Sandton.
An old favourite, The Peech offers quiet, comfortable stays with a restaurant that offers casual dining with a sophisticated palate, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to guests only. The property now boasts a second restaurant, Basalt, which launched in 2019. Chef Freddie Dias, formerly of The Pot Luck Club, serves dinner Tuesdays to Saturdays. Dishes are created from fresh local ingredients, with specials available when the seasonal ingredients allow.
