From eisbein and boerewors rolls to chicken curry wraps and roasts, these cosy Durban pubs serve up some seriously good lunch deals.
Ernie Els’s venture into the hospitality industry is welcomed by all, especially when there are great specials to take advantage of. These include a two-course power lunch, plus a beverage, for R175 per person. The deal is available from Mondays to Fridays, 12pm to 3pm.
There’s something to look forward to almost every day at Jackie Horner. On Mondays you can get a burger and beer for R79; on Tuesdays, select meals are discounted from 12pm; on Wednesdays the prawn special costs R119 (or a platter for two for R219); on Thursdays you can get a T-bone steak and two sides for R139; and on Sundays R85 will get you a plated roast comprising three meats, roast potatoes, veggies and a dessert.
In addition to the half-chicken specials you’ll find here on a Wednesday, The Lookout also has a roast lunch from 12pm every Sunday. For R95 you’ll get to enjoy a freshly baked Yorkshire pudding with pork, beef, spinach, butternut and roast potatoes with gravy. Yum!
Lords and Legends has become a firm favourite for Toti and Brighton Beach locals and visitors alike. Pull in on a Monday from 11am when you can buy one burger and get another free. Or, from 11am on Fridays you can tuck into an eisbein, washed down with a Richelieu and Coke, for R120. There’s also a R90 Sunday lunch special that includes two roast meats, curry, veggies, salad and rolls.
Yes, it’s a brewery, but Robson’s serves some killer meals and, from 11am to 2pm, selected dishes that feature on the lunch menu cost just R59. Some of the options include a boerewors roll, chicken curry wrap, a hake burger and a giant farmhouse toasted sandwich.
