The next time you’re spending quality time with your best friend, be sure to head to one of these pet-friendly spots that offer delicious treats just for your dog.
Enjoy a beautiful day out in the Constantia Valley and be sure to include lunch at Simon’s Restaurant. Sit outside, with live music on the weekend, and enjoy anything from a butter chicken curry to beer-battered hake and a bottle of Groot Constantia’s finest wine. And your dog will also be spoilt for choice with a three-course menu on offer. Opt for biltong or droewors to start, before moving on to a mains of mutton, ostrich, beef or chicken – all served with veggies, rice and lentils. Dessert is coconut oil or mint-and-rooibos biscuits made by Jenny Morris.
The 12 Apostles Hotel allows leashed small dogs (below knee height) on their premises and guests can request pet beds and bowls in their rooms. For patrons who are only spending an hour or two at the hotel, book a spot in the Leopard Bar if you’re planning to bring your four-legged friend along. While you sip on a signature cocktail overlooking the sunset, your pet can indulge in the “Bark-a-Licious” menu, which promises such delights like beef fillet steak and ostrich mince. Cats too are in for a treat: the “Purrfect Choice” menu features delights such as salmon trout and poached chicken breast.

This iconic pizza spot welcomes “well-behaved dogs on a leash”. Note that during the pandemic, dogs are only allowed outside. Not only does Massimo’s offer a bespoke menu for doggies, but they also donate R2 of every doggy meal sold to the Underdog Project, an NGO that uses shelter dogs to teach empathy and other life skills to underprivileged children in Cape Town. Alongside a puppaccino, your fur friend can tuck into Joe’s Crunchy Balls, with oats and peanut butter; Orange Donald’s bakes, which are stuffed with boerewors and pumpkin; a special bone-shaped mini pizza; or a frozen stuffed hoof. In addition, kit your dog out with a DARG bandana – all proceeds go directly to DARG.
Café Societi offers light meals such as a croissants, paninis and apple tarte tatin to be enjoyed with a coffee of your choice. If your pooch is joining you for lunch, be sure to grab him or her a puppaccino – a small glass of steamed milk foam or whipped cream that comes with a dog biscuit.

Take your pet for a stroll on the iconic Camps Bay strip, then reward yourself with a delicious wood-fired pizza or homemade burger with a beer at Dizzy’s. Your pooch can enjoy a creamy puppuccino, or if all that walking has made them ravenous, they can tuck into a Beef Poochalicious Patty, meaty sauce or grilled chicken strips, all served on a bed of brown rice.
