This restaurant is so bad I actually signed up on the site to write a review. Shabby, tired and dirty, with a terrible green fish tank in the window which doubles as a table. Plenty of dust and loose cables hanging from the ceiling. Basic greasy industrial. But that's the least of your worries. It took 45 min to create one take away dish (there were no other customers). The manager at one point disappeared, Basil Fawlty-like into the kitchen where she delivered blood curdling screaming at the staff. But it did not help. The food was inedible, the rice was not actually cooked, it hard and dry. The chicken dish tasted like salted dishwater, with some squeaky tough boiled chicken/rat and some frozen vegetables plus some stale cashew nuts. The manager was nonplussed, slightly astonished at my irritation, but she made sure to throw the kitchen staff under the bus, saying that it was their fault. A word of additional warning. They have rigged up a scary looking Heath Robinson affair which is apparently a sushi belt and the manager threatened that she is going to unleash that kitchen onto the world of Japanese cuisine.

Had the worst experience here this evening. We waited an hour and a half for our food. The dishes arrived one by one because they apparently had a gas problem. When they finally came they were cold. The dishes were flavourless except for a fish dish which had WAY too much lemon. The service was absolutely horrendous. Two people were actually given the wrong dishes but they were too hungry to say anything. And no apology from the manager even after we complained to the waiter. I’ve been here quite a few times and the food was delicious but I was seriously disappointed tonight.

Great spot for authentic Asian dining. It’s a great choice if you feel like a casual
Chinese dinner, but perhaps something more special than your local Chinese takeaway.
We went on a Monday evening so the restaurant was quite empty, but it still had a lovely ambience – it feels and looks like a proper Chinese restaurant. Our waitress was so friendly, smiley and informative of the menu which always contributes to a good experience.
We ordered the chilli basil beef, spicy chicken, and sizzling Mongolian lamb dishes. The food arrived really quickly (between 5 & 10 mins – perhaps too quick for some but we didn’t mind!) and all dishes were incredibly tasty. You have to add your noodles/rice as extras to your dish so it can be a bit pricey for the quantity you receive, but the quality and taste was excellent. Will be
back to sample some of the other menu items!

If I'm craving good Thai cuisine, this is the place i'll come. After a visit to Thailand 2 years ago, all I wanted was to experience Mussaman curry and a thirst-quenching Singha beer again. I was so stoked to find both of these things at Chef Pons Asian Kitchen. Another favourite main of mine is the Indonesian Bali curry: the perfect balance of sweet and salty - I have yet to experience anything like it! As far as price goes, it's a little bit more than your average, roughly R100, because side dishes come separately. Service is swift and efficient, and ambiance is great for dates as it's dark with candles on the tables. All-round one of my favourites.
