The word ‘Geet’ in Hindi means “melodious poem” and the cuisine echoes this sentiment. Landing in Brooklyn with nothing more than a small suitcase and a love of food, Gita Jivan found her very first her culinary love to feed the world at large.
Culinary innovation has always been at the heart of the Geet dining experience. In many instances, it has been a Geet that has introduced the city to exotic cuisines. Even the regional cuisines of India have surpassed their traditional borders. Favourite dishes from all over the subcontinent are reinvented at Geet with an emphasis on flavour and freshness, using lighter, healthier cooking techniques further introduces new techniques, organic produce and spices to reinvent Indian food with unusual creations and pairings.

Award winning food, and excellent service is what you will always receive when eating at GEET INDIAN RESTAURANT
We booked lunch for this edition of Restaurant Week South Africa and boy oh boy did we get spoilt for choice. The menu had such a superb variety that we each took something different and we could taste a bit of everything. Our waitress Faith was so on the ball, you could ask her to explain anything on that menu, and she was able to describe each dish and its ingredients 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯
To start we just ordered a Steelworx to cool off from the drive there.
Starters were either a Lamb or Dhal Aracini. As a meat eaters, we actually said the Dhal one topped the Lamb one. 😋 Beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. You could not fault it in anyway. The pictures don't really do the food justice (my camera is dying on me slowly)
Before the next course we were given a refreshing mango sorbet as a palate cleanser, it was just what we needed in that heat.
Next up for mains, we had a choice of Chicken, Lamb, Prawns, Ostrich or Veg all served with Veg Breyani, Jeera Aloo and a mushroom Masala Naan. Being the fussy people we are lol. And since most people know Gita is known for her naans, I managed to changed mine to the Honey Coriander Naan with the Pitambari Chicken, and the Nally Ghos Lamb we stuck with the Mushroom Masala one, and the Badami Ostrich we swopped it for the Jalapeno Naan.
Our eyes as it arrived, besides smelling absolutely amazing, was a decent size portion of food and just pure indulgence. I tasted all 3 and each one was cooked to perfection. You know the kind of meals where you don't need to ask for salt, pepper or chilli on the side....lol. This is it.
If you are a lover of indian food, and are a bit on the adventurous side then you must try this restaurant week menu... you will be blown away, as it's not the "normal indian" food, still full of spice and flavour as you would expect indian food to be, but just with a twist.
With our mains we enjoyed a beautiful bottle of ConradiePenhill 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, can't believe we finished the bottle 😂 thankfully I was not driving.
For dessert the Options were a Chocolate Samoosa with Malai Ice cream, or Pear (poached in wine) and Carrot Halva with Malai Kulfi ice cream as well. The ice cream was a hit, and the chocolate samoosa too. Only the Pears were sadly too hard to eat, but my sister indulged in the ice cream.
So peeps there is still time to book until 1 November. If you want something different and reasonably priced at only R250 pp for lunch and I think R350 for dinner. But check the restaurant week page for bookings etc.. you wont be dissatisfied.
So glad we made the trek to Pretoria for this lunch. Thank to you Gita and Team for always a lovely experience.

The best, if not the only fine dining Indian restaurant. The food, especially their curries, is out of this world. A large variety of drinks to choose, from locally sourced wines and their one of a kind selection of cocktails. Boy oh boy! I'd go there every time someone asked me to recommend a restaurant. Great service and ambience.

I took my wife to Geet Restaurant for a lunch for her birthday. This is still the best Indian restaurant in South Africa by far. The food was absolutely magnificient once again ! We had the Nally Lamb and the Allepy Chicken with mushroom rice and butter naan. The owner Gita and her staff were highly attentive and the attention to detail was impeccable. Gita takes such pride in her dishes and in all the years we have been enjoying her cuisine we have been impressed by the consistency of quality and the delicate, complex flavours that invade your palate and leave a memory of refined, sophisticated, deliciousness, layers and layers of delicate flavours, unforgettable and unsurpassed levels of memorable satisfaction. Few Indian restaurants are capable of producing this level of quality. Definitely one of the very best restaurants in Pretoria and worth a visit. Highly recommended to all serious diners ! This is a well run, family business that has been going for over two decades and where customer care and satisfaction matters. It is just not coincidence that it won the award for the best Indian cuisine restaurant in the world. Highly recommended.
