With a new chef, and possibly new owners, this restaurant, located on the seafront in Gordon's Bay, has taken a major leap up the gastronomic ladder. A Mediterranean based menu, using local products, sets it apart from the other restaurants in the near locality.
Four of us dined there on a recent Monday night, when surprisingly for the time of year, the restaurant was quite busy. Obviously the good news has spread.
The crab cake starters could not be faulted, my mince lamb based "cigar roles" were delicious and their snail starter was a welcome change from garlic snails.
The ladies both chose a pork belly dish, from the menu of the day, which they both said they would order again. My "steak burger" was not of the minced variety but slices of fillet steak on a bun garnished with a tasty salad and dressing. Great potato wedges completed this tasty dish. The fourth main course chosen was sword fish. A plentiful meal served with healthy vegetables all cooked Mediterranean style.
No desserts were ordered but the selection showed that the chef was not afraid to go beyond the expected. Definitely next time.
There is a reasonable selection of local wines to accompany the meal.
We were not able to fault the service and attention that we were given. We were all very happy with evening, at a price that was not going to break the bank.
Definitely one that we will be recommending to our international guests, and the swallows that will be arriving fairly shortly.
