Sigh, another pretentious restaurant serving bad 'fusion' Asian fare has raised its head in our neck of the woods. We popped into Yuzu for an unscheduled supper. What a disappointment. My partner had the Tofu Ramen, and I ordered the Chicken ramen. We both agree that this was the worst attempt at ramen we have ever tried to eat. Hers was so spicy as to make it more akin to a Thai Tom Yum, and my chicken dish contained of all things a pork encrusted Scottish egg. The chicken was fried in crumbs, leaving as dry as an old piece of old KFC strips. The broth was essentially flavorless, with a slightly sour aftertaste. Ramen were few. At R99 per dish including a glass of beer you may think it was a good deal, but if you tasted it you would not be of that opinion. As a little shared starter we ordered the Salmon Roses (R98 for 4). A sparse portion for the price and very mediocre. They serve a vastly superior offering at almost any other Asian place in Cape Town. The bill with tip was R3500 for an extremely disappointing meal which will not take us back for a second meal. The highlight of the night was our attentive and polite waiter.... The lowlight was having to keep a beady eye on a large rat which ran along the wall behind our table and made his way down onto the garden... NOT RECOMMENDED
