Entering any coffee shop a standard aroma is expected of freshly ground beans and the smell of pastries. Prepare yourself for a olfaction disappointment.
Being there for my first read of the newspaper being served yesterdays croissant at the side of a weak cup of coffee made the morning news a bit more sad, which says a lot in the current South African news market. The ambience of natural light, wood and greenery made up for the experience.

I’d only ever been to Yours Truly on Long Street and they have some great coffee and great service. I was a little intimidated to visit the one on Kloof because I had walked/driven by before and it was always busy and always full of beautiful people. I made my way down there one stunning summers day when it was just too hot and too gorgeous to stay in an un-air conditioned flat and was treated to the great coffee that I knew, incredibly fast wifi and a really laid back atmosphere in the dappled sunshine under the trees that I felt completely comfortable in. Even though I was there for almost 4 hours, I never felt that I wasn’t welcome and it really felt like an international meeting point for almost anyone. I looked forward to ordering a lunch time sandwich and the menu looked great. The option of ordering off menu and creating your own was appealing, but I stuck to standard for them. The only thing I changed was from Ciabatta to Pumpkin Seed Loaf. The order was promptly made fresh for me and delivered to my table. I could not be more disappointed that the bread was ridiculously stale- booooooo!
