I would really love to be able to say that this little restaurant almost on the beach in quaint Arniston is a good place to eat. But I honestly can't. To call it honest cooking is a bit too nice. And just because it is small and simple and off the main track doesn't allow it to be bad. But it is quite bad. It is just too much on a home made level. To start with - the bread is ready sliced bought breakfast loafs. Olive oil is not extra virgin olive oil. Not even olive... The salads all look like they were made in 2 minutes by a stressed out mom - tuna salad is a can of tuna poured over some crisp lettuce. The cabbage with feta is cabbage with feta chunks in it. On the night we were there they didn't have any lamb, pork or chicken. They had cape salmon and prawns. Or vegetable stew. The prawns we had were 12 grilled (small) prawns, with parboiled rice and sweet chili sauce. We were also served (bought in) mayonnaise in a tomato puree jar. Dessert was malva pudding (not home made) served with (bought in) vanilla ice cream, the very cheapest one - no trace of real vanilla or cream. Coffee is awful. The wine is wine. Sorry, but it is not good.
