We made a booking 29 September for a 40th birthday that we would host. The person who was arranging this spoke to a lady by the name of Sandra to agreed to have us and my wife even made a trip there to look at the venue. They agreed we can have a separate menu etc. Today, our friend who was arranging with the venue calls to check if they have ribs whilst on the call, Olga mentions that she was meaning to call us to say they can't accommodate us and they will have to cancel our booking. After a back and forth with my friend, Olga mention that Jeanette, who seems to be the owner has cancelled our booking and has the audacity to say that she is not here to be politically correct but she is running a restaurant. This is because there is a bigger function taking place and all of a sudden there is not place for the little people. It is a month ago when we made our booking, and they cancel a few days before the function. This is CAPITALISM at it's best. No regard for people, no integrity, doesn't matter what you do to others to get ahead, it's all about MONEY!!! WORST PART She said to my friend “not to be judgemental, but black people are always late, your guests might not show up at 7pm”. My friend responded that she is being racist, and she does not know her or her guests. Jeanette's response “if you want to play the race card that is fine with me, I am trying to run a restaurant here, I am not trying to be politically correct.” - People still talk like this in 2022...PATHETIC!!! Had they mentioned it was not possible when we called 29 September this would not be an issue, but at this stage, people have been invited, arrangements made and they drop us at the very last minute not concerned whether or not we have an alternative, as long as their BOTTOM LINE is met. This is disgraceful and leaves a very bad taste in my mouth to think this is how people treat their clientele.

great atmosphere, good food

Verdicchio Restaurant and Wine Cellar at Montecasino offers amazing ambiance, fantastic food and superb service. The dim lighting makes for a romantic setting which is perfect for dates and special occasions - my wife is on my case for us to return! Unsurprisingly the eatery is a popular one and you might have to wait for a table. Not to worry as you can either relax with a pre-drink or walk around the complex and the staff will call you when a table opens up. That is what happened to us but in fairness that was the last thing I could complain about. The waiter was always on hand, made great suggestions and was very passionate - how rare to find a waiter who loves his job these days! The food itself was perfectly prepared, using fresh ingredients and after starting with incredible Italian bread and butter, I had a wonderful wild mushroom & duck soup followed by a glorious pasta a la med (shrimps, calamari, & mussels in a creamy white wine sauce) as a main and then came the piece de resistance - coppa di chocolate! My wife opted for il cocktail di prawn, duck picasso (roasted in black pepper, red wine and black cherry sauce) and magnificent malva pudding. We exchanged a bite from each other's respective dishes to confirm we were indeed in heaven. I could feel the angels in my mouth! Prices are quite reasonable too in spite of the upmarket setting, which is good when you know you have to take the wife back for more! But even if prices rose significantly, it would still be worthwhile as it is a true treat. This is one of my top 5 restaurants so far. Lovely atmosphere especially in the wine cellar. Menu that comes on an iPad, excellent variety of meals and amazing service, always, makes this restaurant extra special for date nights.
