Le Chameleon is obviously well frequented by both Eastern Cape residents and regular visitors to the area, which was evident on our first lunch there, having only heard excellent reports. For the passing traveller on the N2, this is a very worthwhile short detour into Humansdorp. Enter the extraordinary shopping area, from fashion to well sourced local and imported foods and much more beside. Then enjoy excellent breakfasts, or good coffee and pastries or lunch like we did. A wonderfully varied menu of interesting and very good food, like the wines, affordably priced. The humorous 'tongue in cheek' decor combined with good management and excellent service make this a rewarding venue. They have it right, from the choice and the volume (!) of the music, to comfortable seating and well spaced tables.

Hubby and I just had lunch at Le Chameleon and it was outstanding. Best Curried Chicken and Potato Salad I have ever had! Every bit of it was edible! Plus there is tons of shopping to be done in this little establishment. Fancy coming all the way to the EC to discover a little gem in Humansdorp of all places! We are sorry to be going back to Johannesburg on Friday as there is so much more to discover in the EC gastronomically - but my expanding waistline says it is time to go home!
