second time back here after a bad experience and what a turn around! food was locally sourced and fresh. they have their own veggie garden now and it is completely organic! thank you guys for a much improved all round dining pleasure
Dined here on Sunday 2 August 2015. WOW WOW WOW! the brtaai menu we had was superb. Proudly South African and we can see why the Champions own this restaurant. beautiful setting for family and to enjoy the day out. My cousin who was with loves the venue and wants her wedding here, fingers crossed. please ask for Clive to be your waiter# Superstar
New owners and what a breath of fresh air! food was exquisite, tastefully garnished and bold flavours. service was spot on and attentive but not over the top. we will definitely be back soon and well done to Yusuf and his FOH team.
Terrible. The standard response to queries re the menu was "I don't know either - it's a new chef and new menu". We had to get up and actively search the corners of the establishment for our waiter numerous times to amongst others get appropriate cutlery after every course. This was kindly plonked down in a heap in the middle of the table for us to help ourselves. They did us the courtesy of opening our wine but that concluded the beverage service. You are forced into a 2 or 3 course menu which at R265 and R300 is way overpriced considering the quality of food and the non-existent service. Two completely inedible deserts had a strong garlicky flavor which we assume cannot be intentional - it remains a mystery. The great venue and delicious fish mains course were not enough to save this lunch.
Having been a regular diner at La Vierge in 2013 and 2014, I looked forward to taking our overseas guests for a nice lunch in lovely scenic surroundings. What a total disappointment it was and this was our first visit under the new restaurant management. The service was non-existent, the food took an age to be delivered, orders were mixed up and some forgotten. No salt and pepper on the table and only 2 serviettes between 5 of us. When we asked for more serviettes, a waiter dumped a handful in the middle of the table as if it were a greasy diner we were eating in. The Saugvignon Blanc was not quite chilled enough and one of our guests had 'Yellowtail' that looked and tasted more like a Cape Salmon or another kind of oily fish- despite the Chefs assurances that it was Yellowtail, none of us were convinced. Overall, it was a great let down and we will not be returning anytime soon!
