This restaurant has been making waves in the particular foodie circles that I follow and rate, so I proactively made a booking before I even had my Jozi trip confirmed (I live in Cape Town). The restaurant was buzzing on the Saturday night we chose. It was hot, and we were seated on the veranda, which had a lovely ambiance. The service was slick and professional. We opted for two rounds of tapas. The first round with mainly vegetarian dishes. The dolmades were the standout dish of this round. Our next round included beef shortrib (which really needed to be a bigger portion, because it's sensational) , calamari and grilled cauliflower. Greece can be proud of how this restaurant presented it's culture and cuisine.

I visited Kolonaki with my family, and from first impressions, it felt like we were in the heart of Greece. The decor has a complete Greek aesthetic with finishes of white walls and beautiful authentic wooden furniture with plants surrounding the entire restaurants circumference; topped off with some beautiful dimmed lights, creating a warm and wholesome environment. But now, to the most important and delicious part, the food: my sister and I are both vegetarian, and most restaurants tend to slack on variety and flavor of their vegetarian cuisine; but my word were we blown away. Every single vegetarian meal was honestly as mind blowing as the next; full of flavor and all individually unique. For the meat lovers- my boyfriend had the octopus and my dad had the lamb, of which they both couldn’t lay their hands off of. The dessert finished the meals off beautifully and we shared 2 between the 4 of us. The service was also swift, and the staff are all extremely friendly and make you feel at home. Kolonaki is a magnificent restaurant, for the family, for a date, for a business meeting; the list goes on. This restaurant is for everybody, and I’ll definitely be visiting soon.
