This lively, homely, African-themed pub and restaurant is situated across the road from the beach and offers expansive sea views where Dolphins and Whales are often spotted from the deck. The Bush, as it is affectionately known, offers live music most days of the week, happy hours every day and a very extensive menu. All major sporting events are televised on the big screen and numerous wide screen TVs creating an electric atmosphere where you won’t miss a thing.Although The Bush is fully licensed, well behaved children are very welcome and are catered for with their own Kiddies Menu.

Very rude staff , later found out he was the bar manager , well said he was . Pity cause other bar staff and waiters were good.
He was sitting on a chair behind the bar and a effort to stand up to talk to us. He got our order wrong then was rude when we asked to change it.said to me "you can just wait ". later he was rude to another costumer . I asked him who he was and he said the bar manager and had a air of importance about him . Wrong person for the Job.disapointing cause other bar staff and Waiters were good.

As humble and basic as Bush Tavern is, i first ate the Bacon Cheese Burger there almost 10 years ago and since then i have tried a bacon cheese burger everywhere i go including a Waygu Beef burger in Perth,Australia and nothing comes close to the flavour and simplicity of this burger. I now live in JHB but make it my mission to get to Bush Tavern any time i am in Dbn.

Hi there, I am an avid traveller and would not want others to experience bad service. Please try to avoid this place. This was my experience and it was terrible. Below is my email to the owner:
Hi Rob/Carol,
Festive greetings to both of you.
I am a patron of the Bush Tavern restaurant & grill. I visited your establishment on the 30/12/2015 between 10:30pm to 12:30 am.
The location is absolutely amazing. There's a great sea breeze and there's a holiday atmosphere most year round. Unfortunately that is not all that is needed to be successful in this type of business.
We waited at one of your tables for about 10 to 15 minutes without even a glance from your waiters. We then moved to your bar area where we ordered some drinks. You had a unique drink on offer that I hadn't seen before. It was the bush fire jam jar which included 2 jaw breakers in the jam jar. Such a simple yet effective addition to the concoction. This took me back to my youth so I wanted this drink.
After ordering and after the drink was presented to us there was no jaw breaker in the drink. I asked the barman and he said he did not have any. This being the main reason for me ordering this type of drink, I asked if he could replace the jaw breakers with another shot of something. He then asked a lady, who I later found out was Faith, if he could do this. After a short while he said yes and then poured me a shot of Fireball liquor into the jam jar. A little despondent but happy that there was a consolation we gratefully accepted the drink.
We ordered 4 of these drinks. When the bill came through, the additional Fireball shots were included in the bill. So I requested the waiter to remove the Fireball shots from the bill explaining what had happened. After a long while the manager called me and I explained what had happened again. After explaining a few times more to the manager he bluntly said that I must pay for the Fireball shots. He would not hear anything more.
Please be aware that me, including my friends, did not antagonise, raise our voices or use vulgar language with your staff. After some discussions with your manager, the barman and Faith, Faith lost her cool & swore at my friends - customers at your establishment.
Your manager and staff were adamant that this is something that we must pay for. I was then approached by another waiter (Bones as he calls himself). I explained to him and he said there might be repercussions if I did not pay. After seeing the behaviour and attitude of your manager and staff, and since we had ladies as part of our group, I thought it prudent to just pay and leave as soon as possible. I did not know what was in store for us.
I am utterly amazed at the way you treat customers at your establishment. I am at a loss for words to describe the gall of your staff to demand and threaten your customers.
I hope that you will respond in a manner that a customer focused owner would.
Please be aware that we live in the 21st century, in the information age, and that word travels quicker than you think electronically.
Although I am writing to you in a calm manner, I will do everything in my power to enlighten the public about the staff at your place via all media possible - I can assure you of this. I would not want others to experience pathetic, threatening & bullying service like this. I really hope you re-think the type of people you employ in the food & hospitality industry as this is reason why most companies fail in SA.
Yours sincerely

I absolutely love this place and would recommend it to anyone in the area. The service has always been fantastic and I always get the feeling the waiters genuinely enjoy working there. Excellent for watching sport as well as sitting down for a nice meal with your family or going out with your friends. Large outside and inside areas with beautiful sea views. The food is always fantastic (especially their chicken and prawn curry).
