After an eventful weekend visiting the Wine on the River festival in Robertson, we made one last stop to the funky and busy Bourbon street situated in the heart of Voortrekker road before our long trek home. With the owner owning both establishments, we opted for the hip, more quieter side of the restaurant and was not disappointed. We occupied the top floor which resembles a loft with stunning decor from grass-looking place mats, wooden benches with metal frames, interesting light fixtures to the most comfortable seating with big screens and landscape artwork adorning the walls. But the best part of our experience was the food. As we had an early breakfast, we opted for the Tapa's menu and was not disappointed. Our waitress cleverly placed all our orders on one tray so we could share and sample the delicious treats from a variety of poppers, sticky Asian wings, melted brie cheese topped with bacon and figs and baked mushrooms with a spinach feta filling. We plan on attending the festival next year and Bourbon Street will definitely be placed on our itinerary as I want to sample some of their other offerings like their gourmet burgers, steaks and pizza's, which was also reasonably priced.

Bourbon street has been an old favourite ever since our first visit. Especialy over the weekends when they have live music and the restaurant is busy. Service could be a tad slow but the food is hearty and sushi superb!

Loved Bourbon Street!! I thought the food was great and it is awesome to see such a selection of wines from all the surrounding Robertson Wineries. What a unique idea to name the pizzas after a winery. You can order an Arabella or a Roodezant, who knew youd be getting a pizza topped with to-die-for combinations and you dont have to fight over the 4 mushrooms. I have eaten there several times and the steaks are mouthwateringly delicious too. The owners are also hands on and friendly. The new addition to the deck (all now under cover), makes for great winter dinners and is sure to keep it cooler in the hot Robertson summers.
Been once and vowed never to return, but we were meeting friends who suggested the place, and so gave it another go. The service, once again, was appalling. We were shown to our table, but had to wait 15mins before we complained and were given menus. The food was solid country-style portions, but while the place tries for a hip and happening look it veers more toward a US road-side eatery. There is nothing wrong with this, if only they had the same quality of waiting staff. This is not slow food, this is quality fast food served at snails pace.
