After an eventful weekend visiting the Wine on the River festival in Robertson, we made one last stop to the funky and busy Bourbon street situated in the heart of Voortrekker road before our long trek home. With the owner owning both establishments, we opted for the hip, more quieter side of the restaurant and was not disappointed. We occupied the top floor which resembles a loft with stunning decor from grass-looking place mats, wooden benches with metal frames, interesting light fixtures to the most comfortable seating with big screens and landscape artwork adorning the walls. But the best part of our experience was the food. As we had an early breakfast, we opted for the Tapa's menu and was not disappointed. Our waitress cleverly placed all our orders on one tray so we could share and sample the delicious treats from a variety of poppers, sticky Asian wings, melted brie cheese topped with bacon and figs and baked mushrooms with a spinach feta filling. We plan on attending the festival next year and Bourbon Street will definitely be placed on our itinerary as I want to sample some of their other offerings like their gourmet burgers, steaks and pizza's, which was also reasonably priced.
