Horrible experience. Despite us only being the 2nd group of customers, we waited almost 45mins for the food. The waitron, Audrey, was hardly around, and I had to go find my own cutlery. Completely inattentive. Worse was the Baby Kingklip, which after waiting so long was undercooked. The waitron had the audacity to ask me to taste the obviously undercooked translucent flesh "just to make sure". Management then offered me another dish, which I had to takeaway. That was just as appalling. My son, who had the prawns and calamari, complained a few hours later to me if food poisoning symptoms. I will NEVER go back to this place again.

A picture perfect day as the majestic Table Mountain boasts its beauty against a backdrop of a crystal clear sky and serene seas.
This is what Blowfish is proudly set against.
Unfortunately this restaurant which had previously raised the bar for us, disappointed today.
We were warmly welcomed and ushered to our table at the window.
I ordered a sushi individual portion for myself as a starter. Im a cheater in terms of sushi as l am not a lover of raw fish so l generally opt for the vegetable Californian rolls which disappointed slightly in that they were slightly dry and the portion of wasabi less than generous.
The main meal which l ordered was a soul which was cooked to perfection and smacked of the sea. I chose mash potato as a side accompaniment which was a massive portion. It was exceptionally tasty although somewhat oily as it was drizzled with truffle oil and sprinkled with cheese. I only realised when the bill arrived that this was charged for seperately and did not accompany the meal automatically. We were somewhat surprised.
Vegetables are an extra and not complimentary as well but one is not informed of that. Thus one only gets the main meal protein portion and anything extra is charged for. It makes this restaurant somewhat expensive.
My spouse had a 200g fillet which she thoroughly enjoyed along with a portion of mash as well. The sauces on the menu are all unique and require interpretation.
As much as it may sound jush....a standard sauce even verbally dressed should be on the menu, be it cheese, garlic or mushroom.
Not everyone is adventurous and many people have their firm favourites.
The presentation of the food is not in line with what one would expect of a restaurant of that calibre. It is not by any means attractively plated.
Sadly the restaurant fails to pay attention to detail and overlooks the finer details that just drops it down a notch since my last visit.
Although the waitron was attentive and really good, there was no salt and pepper on the table, no steak knife presented with the steak and also no spoon in the sauces.
The hand drying facility in the cloak room did not exist
.
The home brand bottled water which is meant to be sparkling ,was flat. Although replaced ,management admitted to having a problem with the supplier. In my opinion nothing less than best should be served to patrons. If he was aware of the problem l feel he should've withdrawn it until sorted.
Having noted all of the above l will say that it was a good start to the weekend and extremely peaceful feasting our eyes on the best scenery in the world.

I was a frequent guest at Blowfish from 1995 - 2011. Then change of ownership and all went downhill. I live in the area. Went there on Saturday , August 27 for lunch after almost 2 years. Same horrible service and mediocre food. Ordered a starter and main. Waitor forgot to put in starter order, brought my main after 35 min wait. Only 4 tables on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Will never go back. It is a over priced poorly run establishment
