Bicccs Waterkloof had been a firm favorite of mine over the years. There was always a great vibe there, the waiters were friendly and Chef Forti always made us feel at home. I recently ordered a cake from there. The new male owner was very rude on the phone as well as in person when I collected the cake. Sadly, I'd noticed that the place had completely lost its personality as well...but the limoncello cake was as good as always. This week I decided to give it another try and this time ordered 2 cakes for a birthday party. My name and number were taken down (I had to repeat it several times). When I went to collect it on the morning of the party I was told that the Waterproof Heights centre had had no electricity for two days and that they were "really sorry" but my cakes had not been made. I had not be contacted telephonically in the week. The owner said that he wouldn't recommend that I buy any of the other cakes on display either (however they were comfortable selling these by the slice in their shop). He tried to shift the blame to me saying that I had not left my number so he couldn't contact me.
Bicccs used to be special but now woolies sell fresh croissants and chocolate twists, Alfie's sell divine Italian bread and there are a number of artisan shops in the Menlowood area for everything else....and Chateau Gateau sell amazing flash frozen cakes if you ever have a cake emergency!
Can't see Biccs surviving much longer if they don't up the ante...
