Their Gluten Free Bakery & Eatery in Jasmine House, is owner run and adopts a farm to table approach with a focus on creating a stronger connection to your food. The owner, Fran van Tiddens, decided after lockdown in 2020 to rebrand and relocate the then Chelsea Cafe (at Chelsea Village) to Babette’s Bakery & Eatery. Babette is the name of her youngest daughter, a coeliac, and the inspiration for the plenty gluten free options on the menu.
The Front of House is run by manageress, Sericha George, and her team of women. Babette's is a beautiful and intimate space that lends itself out to private functions, events and intimate weddings.
Babette’s is famous for it’s Croque Monsieur, Eggs Benedict, Brekkie burger, delicious curries and salads. Their gluten free sourdough and muffins have a firm following. They make everything in house from scratch, such as their beetroot chutney, Thai green curry paste, mayonnaise, harissa paste and hollandaise, which they use in their much loved dishes.
We cater specifically for people with food allergies and intolerances. Babette’s is fully licensed and serves Waterkloof wines, craft gin and beer.
