By far one of the best restaurants and really affordable for the ambience and the portions they serve the chicken pasta is the best its advisable to have it with red wine, the atmosphere with the beach being in close proximity just adds to it the waiters are friendly and port elizabeth has foodie culture which i guess resonates with everyone Great place

I used to visit the former Angelos' in Central but then decided to try the Summerstrand one. As soon as I entered I was seated by a coloured gentleman with long dreadlocks.
He handed me the menu and I ordered Tramezzini which was delectable with dry lemon. The waiting period before my meal was ready was noticeable given the fact that Tramezzini is just a simple toasted sandwich which doesn't even take 5 minutes to prepare in my kitchen.
On delivery of the meal, my waiter vanished into thin air, tried getting the attention of the other waiters to get me my bill but it was like talking to a brick wall.
Eventually my waiter showed up and when handing me the bill informed me that their menu is so cheap which gave me an impression that he was suggesting I tip him more for such disservice! How about did you enjoy your meal? maybe that could have moved me.
To me that was like the last straw. Angelos central had nice interior decor, friendly staff but Summerstrand? Thanks but no thanks! You don't meet my low customer care standards.

The only restaurant where everything on the menu is good, excellent food, great service! Would recommend walmer branch, summerstrand one is very noisy and not very spacious.

I took my friend to the beachfront Angelos yesterday morning as a treat. Sadly we were unable to sit on the verandah as the outer tables were in full sun and it was too hot, and the inner tables were all full. So we had to sit inside where the music was inappropriately loud and not conducive to easy conversation. After placing my order I asked the waiter if the music could be turned down a bit which it was for a few minutes, but then it was turned up again, almost louder than before. My friend did not want anything sweet to eat so ordered a small bowl of chips. He was told the kitchen could not fulfill that order as it only opened at 12 and it was only 11am. So he ordered a toasted cheese sandwich. I ordered a sweet pancake. We also ordered two coffees and I asked for a glass of water. The waiter returned saying (without apology) that there were no pancakes. So I decided to share my friends toasted cheese as he couldn't really manage a full one anyway. The waiter brought our coffee but I had to ask him twice more for my water before he brought it for me. Our toasted cheese halves arrived on two plates but absolutely no effort was made to present it attractively, no garnishing, just two triangles of toast each on a plate and that was it. It was very thin but tasted nice. Our waiter ignored us after that and we shouted our way through the meal. So, the ambience was unsatisfactory, the service was unsatisfactory and the food was unsatisfactory. Altogether, our experience was such that we decided "never again" and my friend said as much to everyone when I took him home.
