I recently visited The 11th Floor in Johannesburg, and while the city skyline was stunning, what really caught my attention was The 11th Floor pizza. This is pizza done right, no fuss, just proper ingredients and spot-on execution. The base had beautiful leoparding on the crust, which tells you it’s had the right amount of time in the oven, cooked at high heat. Crisp without being dry, it holds up well to the toppings without overpowering them. Grilled chicken breast, crispy bacon, Danish feta, caramelised onions, and peppadews. There’s no gimmick here, just flavors that work together. The sweetness from the onions balances the saltiness of the bacon and feta, while the peppadews add a gentle kick. It’s the kind of pizza that doesn’t try to be anything it’s not, well-crafted, with real attention to detail. It shows that pizza, when done properly, has its place in any dining experience.
