This started out as a looked forward to expedition out to Kalk Bay having recently read a review on K & F. We ordered a chicken pie and a salad with avo on the side instead of bread due to a wheat allergy. Well we were surprised to see the portions I must say. For R42 you would expect a little more than a side plate sized mound of lettuce, about 8 batons of yellow cheddar, some (very tasty) relish and a tsp of hummus. My husbands pie was tasty but also small. That aside, when the bill arrived and R15 was added to the salad price for half an avo, we were very unhappy so asked the waitress if that wasnt a little unreasonable. She called the chef and we politely inquired in the same manner. She threw up her arms and said, Well I suppose just dont pay then. She turned around and then came back and said, Well I dont know what you want me to do. Then she flounced back to the counter, crossed out the R15 and handed the bill back saying, Will this make you happy? We stared in shock. We paid and tipped the embarrassed waitress. On our way out she then came up to me and asked if I was happy with the way it was resolved. I said no and wasnt happy with her humphy attitude. She then proceeded to harangue me about how this was not a grocery store (I had mentioned that a whole avo cost R7) and that she had the right to charge whatever she wanted and that she was not humphy (all stated in the most aggressive and unpleasant manner)! Well, this spot has such potential, but I would warn all other diners away lest you undergo the same unpleasant treatment. What a pity. This could have been so easily sorted out. By the way, we then went elsewhere to find something to fill us up, and to regain a happy Saturday spirit.Notifications
