Known for its alfresco farm-to-table lunches, award-winning restaurant The Table at De Meye in Stellenbosch will see new ownership later this year.
Run by passionate husband-and-wife team Jess Shepherd and her husband Luke Grant, the restaurant has become a well-loved gem in the heart of the Winelands. The duo took to Instagram to announce the news: “Luke and myself have decided to say farewell to the farm in May/June. This is something that we have been reflecting on for some time now, a decision that tugs at every heartstring. It is time for someone else to take over the reigns at De Meye,” reads the post. The pair will be stepping away from the restaurant and new management or ownership is still to be determined.
The Table at De Meye has been a firm favourite in the Stellenbosch region, making the Eat Out 500 a number of times, as well as winning the first-ever Eat Out Woolworths Sustainability Award in 2016.
What’s next? Jess and Luke are going to see where things take them: “Nothing planned at the moment. [We] will see where the universe takes us. Hoping something will reveal itself; we love what we do,” says the couple.
We wish Jess and Luke all the best; we can’t wait to see what they get up to next!
