Culinary royalty Heston Blumenthal has touched down in the Mother City and has been spotted out and about savouring some of the best food the Cape has to offer. The English celebrity chef, TV personality and food writer has been seen at a few restaurants around Cape Town, leaving a trail of star-struck chefs and diners in his wake.

As the owner of The Fat Duck, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Hinds Head (three, two and one Michelin star restaurants, respectively), Heston is no stranger to exceptional food. He’s featured prominently on MasterChef Australia over the years and has published a number of cookbooks.

This three-star restaurant in Franschhoek was announced as the winner of the Eat Out Patrón Mixology Award at the Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards this month. This is the second year in a row that the restaurant has won this award, which is testament to the exceptional knowledge, skill and creativity of the team behind the beverages at La Petite Colombe. The menu offering is as superb, with course after course highlighting just why this restaurant keeps winning awards.

A two-star restaurant, Salon offers diners a unique experience based on founder Luke Dale Roberts’ culinary adventures. With Executive Chef Carla Schulze leading the way, the restaurant celebrates a curated selection of dishes that demonstrates Luke’s creativity in the kitchen. Based in Woodstock at The Old Biscuit Mill, Salon is a must-visit when in the city.

The executive chef at “The Nellie”, Luke Barry, shared that his team had the privilege of cooking for Heston. With a number of options to choose from when eating at the Mount Nelson, diners can experience The Chef’s Table (in a hidden space in the kitchen), indulge in a traditional afternoon tea, enjoy seasonal dishes at The Fountain by Planet Bar, sample farm-to-table plates at Oasis and taste hyper-seasonal flavours on The Verandah. They’ll also find one-star restaurant The Red Room by Chefs Warehouse at this legendary hotel.

A Mother City favourite, The Pot Luck Club Cape Town was awarded two stars at this year’s awards. Conceptualised by Luke Dale Roberts, the restaurant celebrates a small-plates menu of modern global dishes that are designed to be shared. Not to be outdone, the cocktail menu has a bespoke drink for every palette and the wine selection showcases a number of South African gems. For those who love a slow foodie weekend, Sunday Brunch at the restaurant is a must.
