Weekend specials for under R200 The chilly spell has finally arrived, which means warm woollies, fireside glasses of wine, citrus season and – the best part – winter specials at your favourite restaurants. We rounded up some of the best deals that you can enjoy this weekend for under R200.

Johannesburg

Café Del Sol 
The specials change from week to week. Order dishes such as Scottish salmon fishcakes (R65); cauliflower, pea and asparagus soup with truffle oil (R45); smoked salmon parcel (R68); baby spinach ravioli (R89); pan-fried duck breast with caramel chocolate balsamic reduction (R128); and homemade tagliatelle with prawns (R98).

Cafe Picobella  
Get special rates on the lamb rack (R95), butternut panzerotti (R65), roasted winter chicken (R85) and chocolate volcanoes (R45).

Gourmet Gurus 
Enjoy half-price flatbreads cooked in the new wood-burning oven until 16 July 2012, Thursday to Saturday. Also, don’t miss their supper club that changes weekly.

Junipa’s  
Choose from the special winter menu ranging from bangers and mash (R70) to lamb shank (R150).  

Moyo Melrose Arch and Zoo Lake  
Enjoy a North African meze menu at R100 per person.

TSG 4Ways  
On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the buffet breakfast is served between 8.30am and 11.30am at R55 for adults and R35 for children under 12.

Pretoria

Moyo (Fountains)  
A North African meze menu at R100 per person.

Stone Cradle  
The early bird buffet special runs from 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday to Saturday. Adults pay R125 per person, pensioners pay R95 per person and children under 10 pay R65 per person.

Durban

Al Fresco’s  
Friday lunch: Ladies get a 20% discount and a free glass of wine. There’s also a happy hour from 5pm to 6pm with live music. Enjoy live music on Sunday.

Moyo (Ushaka)  
Enjoy a North African meze menu at R100 per person.

Cape Town

Bayside Café  
For every main meal ordered, a second member of a party may select one of the special courses, and get the lesser-priced meal free. Or, order any two of the special courses and get the lesser-priced meal for free. Each pair to order at least one starter or dessert to qualify.

Beluga  
Choose two courses (for lunch only) off the autumn menu for R120, or three courses (for lunch and dinner) for R160.

Bertha’s  
Order 1kg of queen prawns for R99; 1kg of mussels for R99; and 1kg of chicken wings for R99.

Blowfish  
Enjoy the hot and cold breakfast buffet for R65 on Saturday and Sunday between 6.30am and 11am, and all-you-can-eat sushi on Sunday. There are also winter specials on the bistro menu between 12 noon and 3pm.

Blues Restaurant  
Order a two-course lunch at R120 and a three-course dinner at R150.

Buitenverwachting  
The winter special menu offers two courses for R175 per person.

Café Manhattan  
Order two beef burgers, two chicken burgers, two portions of chips, two cokes, and two draughts or two glasses of house wine, for R200. All pastas at R69 are served with homemade taglierini and accompanied by a free glass of house wine.

Cargills  
Order before 7pm and get two courses from the specials menu at R120 per person from Tuesday to Saturday.

The Conservatory at Cellars Hohenort  
The winter special includes a two-course menu at R155 (R195 with paired wine) or a three-course menu at R190 (R255 with wine pairings).

Dunes  
Have the Sunday breakfast buffet for R120 per person.

Ferryman’s  
The lunch special includes a burger and Castle draught at R75, and the Sunday pork roast at R55.

The Foodbarn  
Order the three-course menu with two glasses of wine for R175.

Hildebrand  
Pay R120 for two courses and R150 for three courses off the winter set menu.

Kama Sutra  
Order chicken curry roti at R25 (R35 with a SAB beer) from 5pm to closing time from Wednesday to Saturday.

La Boheme  
Order a two-course meal for R95 and three-course meal for R120 per person.

La Mouette  
Order the six-course autumn tasting menu at R165 per person. (R330 with wine).

Leaf Restaurant  
Get 50% off sushi until 6pm, and 30% off thereafter.

Mama Cucina  
Every Sunday experience The Harvest Table buffet at R110 per person. 

Mezepoli  
Ouzo Sundays: Lunch meze menu all day for R120 per person.

Nobu  
Get 14 pieces of sushi at R150 per person between 6pm and 9pm on Sundays.

Pure  
The four-course menu with two glasses of Haut Espoir wine goes for R195 per person.

Rick’s  
Every day between 5pm and 7pm get a tapas or meze platter for two, with 500ml house wine or two Jack Black draught beers, for R110.

River Café  
Order the two-course lunch from the daily specials menu for R99, or three-course lunch for R119. (Not available on Sundays.) Get tea or coffee and a muffin, scone, croissant or cake of the day for R35 between 3pm and 4.30pm.

Rocca  
The specials board is offering chicken salad (R49), chicken burger and chips (R49), chicken penne pasta (R45), margarita pizza (R40), prego chicken pizza (R50) and Parma ham and rocket pizza (R65).

Sevruga
The autumn menu includes two courses (for lunch only) for R120 and three courses (for lunch and dinner) for R160.

Sinn’s  
The lunch special includes Asian chicken salad, chicken Dagwood burger, Cape Malay curried roti, pasta of the day or green mango bean dahl for R55 each.

The Square  
Get half-price sushi every day between 5pm and 7pm. Also order the five-course meal for R195. (R295 with wine.)

Theo’s Grill  
Lunch specials include: • Oysters at R8 each. • Five prawns for R99. • Line fish for R99. • 250g sirloin steak for R99. • Baby kingklip and prawns/calamari for R110. • Seafood platter at R139.

Trees  
Order your choice of steak with sauce, a side salad and a glass of wine for R125 per person.

Tuscany Beach 
Get 50% off one of two meals for dinner, seven days a week. Also get 25% off all sushi.

Upstairs at Quay Four  
Pay R120 for two courses and R150 for three courses off the winter set menu.

Zenzero  
Order the three-course set menu at R145 per person.

Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant  
Have the Pierre Jordan breakfast for R150 on Saturdays at 9.30am. The Table d’Haute four-course menu is served for lunch from Tuesday to Friday for R150 per person. The Pinot Noir menu will be served on Fridays and Saturdays for dinner, and lunch on Saturdays and Sundays for R495 per person, including wine.

Sofia’s Restaurant at Morgenster
The winter special is taken off the à la carte menu that changes every two weeks. Choose two courses at R135 (R195 with wine pairing) or three courses at R195. (R305 with wine pairing.)

Terroir  
The winter special includes a choice of three starters, three mains, two desserts and a cheese board, with dishes changing according to seasonal availability of ingredients. Two courses costs R175, three courses costs R198. Both deals include a complimentary glass of award-winning Kleine Zalze wine.
