The newly opened Restaurant at Waterkloof is a geometric, glass-walled wonder protruding from the estates wine-tasting lounge. Perched atop the Schaapenberg Mountains, it affords an eagles view of False Bay.
The interior is minimalist with an industrial feel, encompassing elements of hardwood, cement and glass. It showcases an open-plan kitchen that allows guests a peek at internationally renowned chef Grégory Czarnecki whipping up classic French fare with a modern twist.
“Our restaurant’s exposed kitchen emphasises the Waterkloof wine-making philosophy of openness and transparency, says Czarnecki. Although stylistically diverse, each of the estate’s European-style wines carries a strong core of elegance and integrity and that is exactly what my food is about.” Restaurant at Waterkloof, Waterkloof Wine Estate, Sir Lowry’s Pass Road, Somerset West
