Here in SA, we excel at designing stylish bars and glass-fronted restaurants with sweeping views, but when winter comes, sometimes it’s a good idea to look to colder climes for restaurant inspiration.

The British are particularly good at cosy, old-school (sometimes hundreds-of-years-old) pubs. This June, British restaurateurs Tim Scudamore and Ryan Harrison brought the tradition to Cape Town with a UK-style gastropub complete with leather booths, real wood finishes, and plenty of hearty, warming winter food. We went to investigate the goings on at The Crazy Horse on Bree Street in Cape Town.
