The 2013 Col’Cacchio Celebrity Chef Series was launched this past Monday at Liam Tomlin’s Chefs Warehouse in Cape Town, taking the toppings up a notch from previous years. The signature line-up for the 2013 series includes pizzas designed by celebrity foodies Liam Tomlin, David Grier and the ladies from Charly’s Bakery. Each pizza will be available for a designated month, from May to August, at Col Cacchio branches. For each Celebrity Chef Series pizza ordered, R5 will be donated to charity.

The range includes:
May: Lau-Ling by Liam Tomlin – R70
A base of Vietnamese-style sauce, roasted crushed basmati rice, minced chicken, mint, coriander, shallots, crispy onion, spring onion, fresh basil, chilli and sesame seeds, served with vermicelli salad. Add mozzarella: R10

June: Ghanchaka by David Grier – R80
Indian-spiced mashed potato base, chicken tikka, spring onion, fresh coriander and chopped pineapple chilli salsa, served with mint and coriander yoghurt.

July: Dangwhoodle by Charly's Bakery – R85
Tomato base, fior di latte mozzarella, roasted cherry tomatoes, Italian parmesan and oven-roasted artichoke hearts, finished off with lashings of basil pesto and balsamic glaze. Add Italian anchovy: R16 or salami: R18. Follow this up with the Dinky Delight, a mini pizza treat smothered in Nutella, melted marshmallows and toasted hazelnuts for an additional R15.

The collected funds will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust. This year’s donation will go towards a very special project: the building of South Africa’s first Childsafe Research and Educational Centre, which will focus on educating hospital patients’ families and the general public about improving child safety and injury prevention at home.
