The Atlantic Seaboard in Cape Town has become a buzzing hive of foodie activity of late. Every corner of the Sea Point stretch offers something to savour, from poké and taco bars to brunch spots and ice-cream parlours. Now Jarryd and Ariel Segal, the team behind the neighbourhood’s popular coffee shop and breakfast eatery, Jarryds, is opening a new takeaway chicken hatch at 162 Main Road.
Simply named The Chicken Shop, the new charcoal rotisserie concept will be a first for the area and will focus on the use of ethically sourced meats and cooking with alternative fuels. Sunday roast chicken, anyone?
While the team is still laying low with details of the poultry-themed menu, we can reveal that the new eatery will be based around the fast-casual concept with speedy, efficient and healthy takeaways. There will be seating for about 40 patrons with no table service.
As for the opening date, the Segals have not set official plans, but it’s more than likely still “a couple of weeks” away.
