Long, hot days are finally upon us, and with that so is the desire to drink vibrant whites. La Motte has two wines we recommend you try; a sauvignon to savour, and a cheeky chardonnay.
La Motte Chardonnay 2009 is a golden-hued wine with a refreshing and fruity flavour profile. There’s distinct pineapple on the nose, backed by a hint of dried peaches. The flavours mellow on the palate and give way to creamier flavours such as toffee and buttered toast. This gorgeous tipple is perfect for summer drinking, paired with sizzling crayfish straight off the braai and dressed with a salsa incorporating sweet pineapple chunks.
Bracingly crisp, the La Motte Pierneef Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is a showstopper. The nose is led by cut grass, green apple and melon. There’s a hint of sweetness in the aroma that’s reminiscent of bright white flowers. Expect a minerally palate with a finish like silk. Enjoy a glass with a table full of tapas – just make sure to include grilled sardines, slivers of pork belly and baked haloumi cheese.
