The town of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape is well known for its great wine but is also home to several exceptional restaurants. Taking a slow walk along its oak-lined streets, you will find wine bars, cafes, restaurants, art galleries and more.
Stellies is often referred to as ‘wine country’ due to the immense number of renowned wine farms in the area and the existing wine routes have locals and tourists flocking to this quaint little town.
With such a bustling food and wine scene, The Stellenbosch Wine Routes and several eateries have come together to bring back the annual Street Soirées.
Taking place from January to March, the Street Soirées consist of a series of food and wine tastings set outdoors where visitors can soak up the balmy summer evenings with a glass of wine and a delicious bite.

Rooted in offering an informal bistro dining experience, Head Chef Garth Bedford has created a menu that offers fuss-free, wholesome dishes.
The dishes on offer are prepared using regional farm-fresh produce and as such the menu is adjusted to the season. With a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, guests can choose from a selection of dishes including herb-crusted pork loin with pickled vegetables and cabbage salad, pork and bean casserole, French toast, chocolate and almond flourless cake and more.

Founded and created by celebrated local Chef Bertus Basson, De Vrije Burger is known for its delicious burger and fries. The restaurant also offers vegetarian burger options along with onion rings, ice cream and more.

Indulge in Indian cuisine specialities such as bunny chow, half-moons and more from Mistress of Spices. In addition, the establishment also sells a range of traditional Indian spices, perfect to stock up on.
A total of 30 wineries will be taking part in the event and include renowned and much-loved estates such as Lanzerac, Zevenwacht, Warwick, Spier, Groenland Wines, Alto Wine Estate and more.
The first Street Soirées will take place on January 26, February 9, February 23, March 9 and March 23. Tickets cost R150 and include a tasting glass with 10 tokens, which can be used to redeem tastings and food at the participating vendors.
