Shake it up!

My holiday resolution was to make icy fruit cocktails, and my New Year's resolution is to drink more of them! (And, of course, the corny one: to diet.) My favourite so far is watermelon juice with a dash of Grey Goose gin, which I kind of borrowed from Planet Bar at The Mount Nelson.

Very soon it’s Chinese New Year, and we’ve just had Japanese New Year on 1 January, so I had to pop into Luke Dale Roberts’s new venture – The Pot Luck Club – to celebrate.

It's simply terrific! It’s Asian inspired and there’s the super sound of cocktail shakers producing magical liquid masterpieces. The ginger and ginseng potion is perfect to get the taste buds seduced, but there is an entire cocktail menu to choose from.

Whilst on my last day of leave, sitting at Harbour House restaurant in Kalk Bay, I enjoyed a nostalgic high ball of Kahlúa and milk from the 80s. With one resolution down, I am not sure how to conquer the healthy eating plan, especially over the next two days as I watch the Eat In team stock the hired fridges. They are laying out what looks like a mammoth amount of delicacies for sampling for the Eat In DStv Food Network Produce Awards, of which I am one of six judges.
 
Well, it’s another very hot day today with a big outdoor shoot for Woolworths TASTE planned. I guess a cocktail at The Grand at Granger Bay is not a bad idea after all…
