Celebrating all things bacon, The Bacon of the Month Club has opened The Bacon Bar, a pop-up for pigging out at Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek.
Nikki Friedman of Môreson wine estate spearheaded the project, which opened on 18 May and will run until the end of July. She calls it “an entire space dedicated to the love of bacon.” Chef Bianca Davies created a menu using award-winning artisan bacon made by award-winning charcuterer and chef Neil Jewell of Bread & Wine, such as hog mac ’n cheese, bacon butties, bacon brownies and even bacon choc-chip cookies.
Visitors can have a chuckle at the bacon-glam décor of a porcine Statue of Liberty and window displays of silver pigs framed with neon lighting. There will also be wares from the Bacon of the Month Club available for purchase.
