Food

The menu shows an eclectic mix of influences, from Mexican to Mediterranean. As a busy restaurant situated in a shopping centre, their menu seems to be focused on reaching a crowd-pleasing effect than adhering to any specific style of cuisine. While this may not appeal to some patrons, others make the most of the variety on offer, opting for a feast that will settle all cravings.

One standout dish is the Calamari with Lime and grilled Olives – a deliciously simple small plate with excellent flavour combinations and textures. The line fish, however, would be better enjoyed if sourced freshly and sustainably from a local fishmonger. Dishes are presented casually – nothing too fancy or unusual. Cilantros is a great spot for those looking to enjoy who enjoy fuss-free meal or drinks in the popular hub of Sandton.

Drinks

The cocktail list is pleasantly short and focused, featuring an impressively well-crafted Cilantros house cocktail. The restaurant features a bar with seating, but if the weather allows, you will almost prefer to enjoy your drink outside on the Square, European style.

A very accessible wine list is available, catering to all, with a few surprising additions that wine lovers would be delighted to find.

Ambience

Cilantros is a busy urban spot for casual meals with a wide offering to appease all tastes. This contemporary Mediterranean restaurant is situated in Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton and is a popular lunch or dinner stop for locals sitting down after a leisurely mall crawl.

Its interior is well suited to the metropolitan-chic style of Sandton’s entertainment district, with luxurious furnishings and finishes to welcome the possibility of a date night or corporate lunch.
