They’ve got quite a large and varied menu, with offerings ranging from an array of authentic dum sum to many other Asian specialities. They are well known for their dum sum menu, which is best enjoyed sharing style amongst friends and family.
The food is served unapologetically and unpretentiously in the traditional way. For those who frequent the Asian gem know you don’t go to HeSheng to be wined and dined or for the finer dining experience, it really is all about the speedy process-driven service and the Asian-food specialities!
The cucumber and mushroom salad was refreshingly crisp and added just the right amount of acid to balance umami-rich flavours that were to follow. Pak choi sauteed in garlic was also deliciously fresh, which added a nice wholesome green element the array of dumplings and savoury goodies.
You can order your dumplings steamed or fried, both a real treat for any dumpling lover! The dumplings are always fresh and the dough is faultless. The steamed dumplings come by the bountiful served rustically in the bamboo steamer baskets. The fried dumplings come with a crisp golden bottom, which adds a delicious crisp texture and moreish flavour.
From the meaty fried steamed bun to the spring onion pancakes, the flavours were flawless, especially when enjoyed alongside a dip combo of their signature chilli oil and salty soy sauce.
The salt and pepper prawns were fresh and perfectly executed. Lightly battered and deep-fried, they are wonderfully crisp with tender prawn meat in the middle. You can enjoy the whole prawn without having to deshell because of how crisp it is.
Their deep-fried tofu is made in-house and served the traditional way, in a savoury sauce with crisp onions, carrots and green peppers. Best enjoyed with steamed rice as a hearty vegetarian meal. A trip to HeSheng does not disappoint if you’re on the lookout for some good authentic Asian grub or dim sum.
They don’t have an extensive wine list or beverage offering. They have a few white and red wines on offer, as well as some beers. Everything is served simply as it comes, in the tin or bottle, with regards to soft drinks.
