Food

The pizza ordered was not cooked properly, so the base came soggy and doughy. However, apart from the pizzas, the chicken schnitzel, Relish Burger, with a well-cooked hand-made patty, as well as the Relish Rump Steak served with a delicious tomato sheba, are all highly recommended.

Other options include a pageful of sushi, a keto power bowl, Picanha Verde, fillet, T-bone pork belly, eisbein, lamb shank and many others. Desserts include an old South African favourite, the Peppermint Crisp Tart.

Drinks

The wine list is in the process of being re-compiled, meaning that a large number of the 80+ wines on were unavailable.

However, complements to the bar-manager who acted swiftly and without hesitation and offered a single bottle of high-end Diemersdal Malbec (at no additional cost) to replace the umpteenth choice that was also out of stock.

Service

The service staff are friendly, courteous and engaging, but could benefit from some focused training. The staff unfortunately had to negotiate a to-and-fro between the table and bar with an embarrassing ‘out-of-stock’ response because they were not informed that the wine list was being reviewed.

It is a good idea to use the very generous R40 corkage fee and take one’s own wine until such time that they have sorted out the wine list.

Ambience

The outside seating areas nestled under large trees are beautiful, with some sections covered by stretch tents and some tables on the veranda. Part of Springbok Park, there is a large kiddie play area with well-maintained jungle gyms for kids to enjoy.

The interior of the restaurant is nicely designed as a purposely constructed restaurant with large vaulted arches and wooden doors that open up to the courtyards.
