This was a experience one would not expect driving from Cape Town to Stellenbosch, and not a good one. Don’t let the name fool you: ChesaNyama meaning a place where people come together to buy meat from a butcher’s and have it grilled on an open fire called a braai. It’s a classic South African town ship way of eating.
But not this establishment. It’s a commercial take away restaurant with bad imitations of ChesaNyama. Bad under seasoned food with overly sweet sauces. Even though the place is busy its situated in the right spot where the food prepared here meets the needs of the target market.

No seating really available as it caters for take away and easy on the go meals. No drinks list available apart from soft drinks and water. Eating here can meet your needs if you are looking for a cheap on the go meal that is carb loaded and presented in such away that you don’t even think presentation is important.
A successful establishment in its own right but not the type of establishment that can be a pole bearer for a classic way of eating that is embedded into our culture.

This eatery is a take-away restaurant with no liquor license. Only basic soft drinks and water is available.
Typical take -away service. Ntando Songelwa took our order aswell as helped prepared it in the open plan kitchen. There is no sit down even though a couple of tables is available, its more for waiting on your food.
It’s a take-away restaurant in the middle of the busy town of Stellenbosch. bright decor with a couple of brown wooden tables and chairs looks onto the service counter and open plan kitchen.
